A quick review of Tata Altroz, Tata Tiago EV and Tata H2X

Tata Altroz

First showcased at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo, Altroz, an offering by Tata Motors, is a perfect mix of trendy design and enhanced performance dynamics. The vehicle is based on Tata’s new Agile Light Flexible Advanced (ALFA) architecture platform.The radiator grille with chrome surrounding gives Tata Altroz a futuristic look coupled with innovative tailgate design and the integrated spoiler in the rear.

Altroz will be equipped with LED headlamps, LED DRLs, OVRMs (electric) and LED tail lamps. It is also expected that the cabin will include floating touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, multi-functional steering wheel and a wide gamut of premium comfort features.

Tata Altroz will be available in 1.2L Petrol engine and 1.5L Diesel engine with options of manual as well as automatic transmission. It is expected that Tata Altroz price will be within the range of INR 5.5 lakhs and INR 8.5 lakhs.

Tata Tiago EV

Among the hatchback car segment, the latest offering by Tata is the Tiago EV. Tiago EV concept was earlier showcased at Millbrook. The upcoming electric vehicle will feature black radiator grille with chrome lining. The EV will also sport new headlights, bumpers and alloy wheels. In the rear, Tiago EV will be fitted with new tail lamps, integrated spoiler and reflectors on the bumper.

The dual-tone interior will include an instrument cluster with an infotainment system, seat-height adjust feature, adjustable headrests and steering-mounted audio controls.

Tata claims that Tiago EV will accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in nearly 11 seconds; and will be able to achieve a top speed of 135kmph in sports mode. This is facilitated by an 85 kW motor, which enables the EV to churn out a peak torque of 200NM. Tata also claims that the EV will be able to deliver a range of 100km in one full electric charge.

It is estimated that the Tiago EV price in Indiawill be retailed from INR 7 lakhs onward.

Tata H2X

The latest concept among Tata cars is the Tata H2X. Showcased at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, H2X was a sweet surprise and a radical showstopper. Following the Impact 2.0 design, H2X, code-named ‘Hornbill’, will be built on Tata’s ALFA platform.

It is estimated that H2X measurements will be 3840mm in length, 1635mm in height and 2450mm in wheelbase. However, the production version may sport a chunky and squared-out design. There are LED DRLs on both the ends of the slim front grille complemented byfloating roof rails.

Tata has hinted the H2X to carry a digital instrument cluster, which will be placed right beside the main touchscreen unit. With regard to the engine, initially, the H2X will be loaded with a BS-VI compliant 1.2L Petrol engine.

Now that we have reviewed the upcoming Tata cars for 2019-20 let us hope that we witness, experience and explore the Indian roads and terrains in these hatchbacks and SUVs very soon!
